My US Trip.....

My first trip to the US of A......My dollar dreams.........

Considering it was an 'onsite' opportunity I was excited about, USA has underwhelmed me! It is just another 'Concrete jungle'! Indeed if you have seen one metropolis city, you have seen them all. May be the so called 'Undeveloped' countries is where the real surprises lie(no wonder our India is famous)........

On the brighter side, this trip was full of many 'firsts'.....  Its the 'first' time am living far far away from family and friends! And that too in a  'Suburb ' away from all comforts of city life. The nearest shop is a good ten mins drive away. Indeed it can be a overwhelming experience for a city bred, protected girl like me. Haa but am surprised it didn't daunt me much ....

Today I can tell you if a clueless(my cooking prowess was limited to making rice Maggi, Omelet - today you can add a nameless mish-mash sabji to the list :-D) , irresponsible girl like me can do it - anybody can! Of course having a sweet colleague for a roommate helped - she highhandedly took care of cooking, cleaning and all ;)

But the biggest novelty for me was 'Snow'! Its for the first time in these many years am seeing actual snow! Indeed the vast expands of snow can be beautiful...all white n pristine! I should add Chicago gave me a blistering cold welcome... the day I landed here, the temperature was hovering around -18 degrees!!. My woodlands jacket felt like a flimsy windcheater then I should say :-D

This trip is coming to an end in another three weeks! I wish I had traveled more......  These colleagues of mine seem to be loving their laptops better(Even  am online 24 * 7)! Or maybe its better like this ....I get to save some dollars for my upcoming marriage! .

Despite all the 'novelty' there is a overwhelming grief n sorrow hiding just beneath the surface! As with everything else in my life , "Yeh Dil mange more'.......Longer stay, better salary, Challenging work......

I am homesick and being transported overnight to this deserted snow laden place with no people in vicinity can be depressing......Indeed I can't help wondering what a different 'happy ending' I would have scripted if only this trip had happened a few months ago when my daddy was around......

Maybe another time with another set of people and a happier frame of mind frame would have made this place seem picture perfect :)
