Why do bad things happen to good people?

A question I have always had is  - why do bad things happen to good people? Why are some people more unlucky than others? Why should some struggle more than others for even the simplest of joys in life?

This death just bought these questions back. Uncle was the sole source of strength for his daughter who is a single mom. For his 8 year old grand-daughter - her entire world revolved around him. That kids life was already incomplete without a dad - did she deserve to lose out on a grandfather on whom she doted

My daddy died a week post my engagement. My sister who was 21 then was a month into her first job. Happy times were just beginning when disaster stuck. N today even the most joyous seems incomplete

A v dear friend who is always gone out of her way to help others is stuck in a unhappy marriage

I have always loved kids - why should I struggle so much to conceive a baby. This while I see friends n cousins around me having babies without even making a conscious effort!

Well the answer I seem to get is, there is a reason behind every suffering! Well am yet to find one...

  3. No easy answers to these fundamental questions, Meena. I can sense how much you are hurting not just for yourself but for all the loved ones who are struggling too. I have learned through my own questions, not to ask any other than: Why not? That's when I start listing out all the stuff I'm grateful for....and questions, they no longer exist. Sounds so trite - but I'm only sharing what worked for me.

  6. I wish I knew the answer to that, but unfortunately, I believe that there is no real answer to that. There is a no good reason for good people to suffer.

  7. No answers to your question. Sometimes acceptance is the best answer. Sometimes with acceptance, the answers come.

  9. Hugss .. no answers too, but sometimes I derive strength from this quote that I read somewhere: 'God does not answer questions, but answers prayers'.

  11. Mmmm, good post. I have often asked myself the same question. We've often been in the position of knowing our intentions are true, but having something 'bad' happen to us. We can only trust that God is taking care of it all. Cheers!

  12. True . The answers are not easy. But just think who in this world has led a life according to his/her expectations. I like to recall a story from buddha tales.
